Sara Fahrney, President
Sara works with local businesses on their Financial Management & Reporting needs. As a Certified Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor she also provides QuickBooks Consulting for new businesses and valuable advice for startups. Sara is a 2002 graduate of Colorado State University and has a background prior to joining VTA in lending & financial analysis.

Mark McManis, CPA

Mark has more than 30 years' experience in the fields of tax and accounting including financial advisory and business valuations.  He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Iowa and earned his CPA license in Colorado in 1977.  Mark is the newest addition to Vail Tax & Accounting, joining the company in the Winter of 2009.

Helen E. Bird
Tax Manager
Helen first came to the Vail Valley in 1974. That same year she founded Vail Tax & Accounting. Helen is still devoted part time to VTA and maintains a large list of happy clients.  She is our human encyclopedia of tax knowledge and is a tremendous resource for our CPAs and clients.

Curtis Ortloff

 CPA

Curt has over 30 years of experience in private and public accounting, advising small businesses on various tax and accounting matters. He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota and has been a CPA since 1974.  Curt specializes in non-profit organizations.





Kathy Russell

Payroll Services Manager, FPC

Kathy oversees the Payroll Services provided to our small business clients.  She recently obtained her American Payroll Association Basic Certification for payroll professionals by scoring in the top 10% of applicants on the Western Slope.  Kathy is a 1999 graduate of the University of Missouri- Kansas City.




Debbie Keenan
Bookkeeper
Debbie has been with Vail Tax for four years and has recently been promoted to Association Bookkeeper.  Having 20-years prior experience in bookeeping, she is knowledgeable with QuickBooks and has an incredible eye for detail that keeps our Association clients books in impeccable order.



Janet Gurley
Administrative Assistant
Janet is the newest addition to our team.  She assists all of our professionals and maintains the office to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
