At Vail Tax & Accounting, we know all about perseverance. Founded in 1974 by Helen Bird, we were the first accounting firm in the Vail valley and 45 years later we are still serving some of our first clients.
Today, firm President Sara Fahrney is growing the business in new directions to fit the valley's small business needs.
Sara's passion is working with small businesses and start ups. Graduating from Colorado State University in 2002 with a degree in Entreprenuership, she has over a decade of experience in financial analysis and QuickBooks consulting.
Helen first came to the Vail valley in 1974. That same year she founded Vail Tax & Accounting. Helen is still devoted part-time to VTA and maintains a large list of happy clients. She is our human encyclopedia of tax knowledge and is a tremendous resource for our CPAs. Helen is an alumna of Kansas State University.
Darcy specializes in individual and business taxes, as well as financial statement compilations. She has a BA and Masters in Accounting from the University of Denver and over a decade of experience in public accounting.
Kathy oversees all payroll & HR services provided to over 100 business clients. She obtained her American Payroll Association certification for payroll professionals by scoring in the top 10% of applicants on the Western Slope. Kathy is a 1999 graduate of the University of Missouri - Kansas City.

Becky started as a bookkeeper with VTA in 2012 & through hard work and a lot of on the job experience, earned a spot on our staff as one of our best Accountants for financial compilation work. She has been a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor since 2013.
Valerie has worked for restaurant, architecture, and construction companies in the Vail Valley. She is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Stacy formerly was a partner in a property management company managing Creekside at Beaver Creek 2004-2014. Stacy first moved to the valley in 1996 and has made the very common move west down the valley from Vail to Avon, to Edwards, to Eagle. She currently lives in Eagle with her son Sam.
Stacy graduated from Colorado State University in 1988.
